Seniors looking for new home
A second area senior citizens group is looking for a new place to meet.
According to June Wollett, the President of the Cassadaga, Stockton and Lily Dale Senior Citizens Group, the officers of the Senior Citizens and board members of the Cassadaga Legion Memorial Post 1280, had been meeting to work out staying at the legion's building on Maple Avenue.
A certified letter was received Dec. 10, by Wollett with some bad news. "Due to the information contained in this letter, the Cassadaga, Stockton & Lily Dale Senior Citizens Group is unfortunately no longer able to meet at the Cassadaga Memorial Post 1280," she said in a news release. "The Legion Board has increased our fee for using their facilities from $350 to $1,100 per year, an increase of $750 per year with less accommodation. The Legion will no longer be able to securely store our equipment, utensils and supplies as in the past or provide a reliable PA system as in previous years. Our only funding source comes from the town of Stockton and village of Cassadaga which is designated for recreational purposes."
