North Port deaths could be murder-suicide, police say
North Port police officers discovered the bodies of a 27-year-old woman and 49-year-old man at about 5 p.m. Monday in a home in the 1100 block of Amnesty Drive, said North Port Police Capt. Robert Estrada.
Their identities have not been released because relatives who live outside the country have not been notified.
Both of the dead are Hispanic, and their families reside in Latin America, making it more difficult to reach them, Estrada said.
Police first responded after calls came in reporting a disturbance and possible shooting around 4:40 p.m. Monday.
Police had not executed a search warrant of the home as of noon Tuesday; Estrada said he hoped a search would shed light on the shooting and the relationship between the deceased. "We have not actually confirmed what is their relationship at this time," he said.
It is also unclear if the man or woman lived at the rental home on the city's east side. Estrada said police did not know who owned or resided in the home.
