I plan on moving out of my parent's house in a year or two. All my life I had been doing nothing but constant moving and never had a steady home. If we had a house, we rented. I hated it, and I wanted my first home to be MY home.
Say I wanted

The house would be yours, but you would have to pay taxes which in California is kind of expensive. You don't HAVE to, but you really should have insurance too. That way if the house burns down or a storm wrecks it you dont lose the 200,000 you paid
