Sheriff's OfficeThere were 39 bookings at the San Joaquin County Jail in the 24 hours ending at 8 a.m. Monday. At that time, there were 1,180 people held at the jail, which has an official capacity of 1,411.
Stockton PoliceHouse shot: A 40-year-old woman was at home in the 7600 block of Lorraine Avenue about 10:20 p.m. Sunday when she heard several gunshots. Later, she saw a bullet hole above her garage door.
Pursuit: A high-speed chase ended without an arrest but officers were able to retrieve the car involved, police said. The chase began about 2 a.m. Monday when officers received a report of shots fired near Hazelton Avenue and B Street. Police in the area saw a red car blowing through stop signs and red lights near Hazelton Avenue and Wilson Way, officials said. Officers estimate the car was driving faster than 75 mph and police ended the pursuit after the car went southbound on Airport Way on the wrong side of the street. The car was later found abandoned on Milton and Eugena streets. Police towed the car but were unable to contact its registered owner.
