Douglass Woods Wilhoit, Sr. went in peace to be with his Lord, surrounded by the love of his family on February 23, 2012.

This bigger than life handsome and intelligent American gentleman was blessed with a great personality and quick wit. He was a proud member of the "Greatest Generation" and is survived by his loving family: his beloved and cherished wife of 70 wonderful years, Olympe Bradna Wilhoit: his very grateful children Douglass Woods Wilhoit, Jr. and wife, Joan of Stockton, Antoinette Wilhoit Giggey and husband, William of Rancho Murieta, Jeannette Wilhoit Morgan and husband, Christopher of Bakersfield; his grandchildren Matthew Woods Wilhoit of Sacramento, Gretchen Guptil and husband, Chad of Elk Grove, Carolyn Mclaren and husband, Douglas of Rancho Murieta, Amy Morgan of Monterey and Christopher Morgan II and wife, Jamie of El Dorado Hills; his great grandchildren Justin and Nicholas Guptil, Alexander, Taylor and Luke Mclaren, Kate Anne McAfee, Dylan and Mackenzie Morgan. He was preceded in death by his father, John Wilhoit and stepmother Ethel, his mother Merle Mattei and stepfather Clarence and his sister Mary Wilhoit and step-brother Stuart Nixon.
