Pomfret seniors 'will not be moving to Christ Community'
The Fredonia-Pomfret Seniors will be without a home for the second time in as many months. During the December town board meeting, Councilwoman Pat Christina notified the board that Village of Fredonia Code Enforcement Officer John Monaco would be inspecting the Christ Community Church facility prior to the towns moving in after the new year.
The church, after some on-going renovations to its facility, was willing to house the seniors for $800 a month. Upon review by the code enforcement officer, however, Christina said plans will have to change, again.
"The seniors will not be moving to Christ Community Church," she said. "After meeting with the village code enforcement officer (John Monaco) they discovered so many of the things that would have to be done before that building would be ready and they haven't even started."
Christina said the church, based on the code enforcement officer's analysis, would have to bring in an architect to make sure the design is appropriate for the use and that it complies with codes.
