Dickerson Automotive: Stockton man restarts a business
19.05.12
Rick Dickerson of Stockton has been in the auto mechanic business for more than 35 years. He has a passion for working on other people’s vehicles. It makes him feel good to know he is doing something that gives people peace of mind.
Dickerson has been involved with cars most of his life. His career changes have always had to do with vehicles in some capacity. Crossing the country from the Chicago area to Arizona, then moving back to the Midwest, helped him and his wife, Brenda, decide to settle down in Stockton to raise a family and start a business.
Dickerson Automotive first began to take shape in the garage of his home in May 2002. He said he had a dream to expand to a bigger location, but other opportunities got in the way of him living the bigger dream of a large garage. It was 2007, when he and Brenda decided to grow the business, but the economy at that time took a nosedive. The couple lost everything — the house and the car. They moved in with family.
