£3.9m contract for Boldon company GoWarm
AN organisation which specialises in tackling fuel poverty has been awarded a £3.9m contract to improve the energy efficiency of more than 400 homes.
GoWarm, part of Boldon-based community interest company Community Energy Solutions (CES), has been awarded the contract by Stockton Borough Council.
The deal will see the firm deliver a range of energy efficiency measures and benefits advice to upwards of 433 properties in Stockton-on-Tees’ Parkfield ward, with initial assessments starting this month.
The £3.9m GoWarm Parkfield scheme is expected to cut the borough’s carbon emissions by around 110,000 tonnes. It is being funded by North Yorkshire-based Eggborough Power Ltd via the government-backed Community Energy Saving Programme (CESP).
GoWarm, which has worked in 26 local authority areas across the UK, will be managing the project from initial assessments through to completion.
In the four years since it began working with Stockton Council, GoWarm has already carried out insulation and heating installations in more than 12,000 homes, resulting in carbon savings of around 62,000 tonnes and helped residents secure £650,000 in unclaimed benefits.
